How much Caffeine in Bianco Leggero – 140mg. Too high?

The Nespresso Bianco leggero capsule contains 140mg of caffeine in an 80ml (2.7 oz) double espresso shot. Bianco Leggero has the 3rd highest amount of caffeine per ml of brewed coffee compared to other Nespresso Capsules.

Note that the Bianco Leggero capsule is discontinued in the US and is replaced with Bianco Doppio for the double espresso shot and Bianco Piccolo for the single espresso variant. It is however still available in the rest of the world and compatible with the Vertuo line machines.

If you want a light-roasted, nutty-tasting, and aromatic capsule that can go with milk and otherwise then Nespresso Bianco Leggero is the perfect choice.

But how does it taste? Does it have a good aftertaste? To answer, I researched many Nespresso pods when I purchased a Vertuo Next, based on the Intensity, Aroma, Boldness, Roastness, and caffeine in mg/ml of coffee brewed.

Bianco Leggero is discontinued in the USA, even after considerable backlash from the customers. The capsules are replaced with Bianco Doppio and Picollo. Instead of paying an exorbitant price for this capsule, you can grab it from the Canadian store (USA customers) or the European online store. Still available as of 2023

It can be difficult to land on a good-tasting Nespresso pod on the first try. So keep trying different pods multiple times before zeroing in on one.

In the case of Bianco Leggero, it is a blend of Indonesian and Kenyan beans. Why does it matter? The bean origin determines the body and the aroma of the coffee, and this one is bold and lingers in your mouth for a long time.

I spent a long time taste-testing and analyzing the intensity and aroma of Bianco leggero when I got the capsule as part of the starter kit from Nespresso.

Bianco Leggero – An In-depth Taste

The dark luster and thick crema have a more balanced final taste. Also, it has slight acidity, thanks to the light roast! The sweet caramel and the biscuity flavor are even and subtle (Some pods have a lot of nutty flavors are can taste charred after some time).

Roasting Level – (1 out of 5)

The Bianco Leggero is roasted lightly and the roasting level shows whether you get an ideal harmony. The light roast maintains its aroma, produces a sweet blend, and is a good companion after a meal.

Acidic feeling – (1.5 out of 5)

Bianco Leggero did give me an acidity-like feeling when I tasted it. It was a little tangy and had a subtle lemon-like flavor. The drink wasn’t sour but it offers a mild-tangy like acidity and doesn’t burn your throat.

Aroma (2.5 out of 5)

The aroma and the taste make it a good choice for coffee lovers. When I added milk, it tasted like a sweet caramel and biscuit flavor that I liked. The overall coffee became creamy when high-fat milk was added! But it tastes good with plant-based milk as well.

Caffeine Content (3 out of 5)

Nespresso Bianco Leggero serves an intense caffeine content having 140 mg which might be too high for some coffee drinkers. But it keeps you fresh and brisk. Don’t recommend a double espresso with Bianco Leggero.

Finish (3.5 out of 5)

The black texture, sweet caramel, mildly tarty flavor, and creamy consistency are a good balance in a cup of coffee. I had a box of Bianco Leggero after the first try. Unfortunately, this capsule has been replaced by a much bolder Bianco Doppio.

Compatible Vertuo Machines for Bianco Leggero

Nespresso Bianco Leggero delivers a 2.7 oz double espresso shot. It is a Vertuo pod and is only brewed with Nespresso VertuoLine machines. Compatible Vertuo Machines are

What happens if you try to brew this with a larger quantity? The coffee becomes too light and tastes poorly. I also felt that the double espresso is too bold without milk, therefore this is specifically nicer to drink it with frothy milk.

Good Alternatives to Bianco Leggero

If you are on the hunt for a perfect alternative to Bianco Leggero, then you can try Bianco Doppio. Adding milk to Bianco Doppio gives a sweet flavor with a biscuity, fruity, and creamy texture.

Bianco Doppio has 100-120 mg of caffeine which is close to Bianco Leggero. Its high caffeine content and light roasting bring a unique coffee taste.

The next on the lot is Bianco Piccolo. It has a sweet flavor and smooth texture, giving a biscuity and caramel taste. Bianco Piccolo contains darker and thicker roast than Bianco Doppio. For indulgent and ardent coffee lovers, Bianco Piccolo is a great option. It is designed for cappuccinos, latte macchiatos, flat whites, and other similar recipes giving the right blend of smooth coffee.

Bianco Leggero – A perfect choice for coffee lovers?

Are you on a quest for a coffee that gives a perfect blend of high caffeine and sweetness? Then Bianco Leggero is the right choice.

Its sweet biscuity taste adds to the cheer and gives a stirring coffee experience that is beyond your normal coffee.

Its finesse gives an active start to your day. In recent years many coffee lovers have demanded and embraced highly caffeinated drinks due to their work stress as it keeps them active and fresh. This trend has entered the bandwagon and adding Bianco Leggero to your list is the right call.

Instead of relying on other high-caffeinated drinks, it is prudent to choose coffee which is better than soft drinks that also have additional additives. I am in no way promoting coffee for kids or young teens as it can also slump their mental growth [1]. But for those who have loved coffee as part of their everyday work ritual, this is an amazing blend, often raved by the customers.

If you are confused about where to find them, check Amazon US (though it is overpriced) or your nearby countries’ marketplace. For US customers, I recommend that you get it from Amazon Canada.

If this is not available, then choose Bianco Doppio which is very similar in taste and flavor though it does not have the same amount of caffeine. The biscuity flavor is replaced by a nutty flavor and might take you some getting used to.
